As part of our efforts to improve the overall tenant and visitor experience at Fort Mason Center, we will be making changes to the way our parking lot is operated. As of March 1, the current system of gates, tickets, and access cards will be a thing of the past. After nearly a year of planning, Fort Mason Center, working with our new parking vendor, Impark, is converting the system to a new, open parking environment.
What this means is that the current system of taking a ticket and paying upon exit will be removed and replaced with automated payment stations (meters) located throughout the parking areas. Patrons will now park their car, note their parking space number, and pay for parking at one of these pay stations, using either a credit card or cash. Parkers can select the length of time they want to pay for and purchase that amount from any one of the meters.
We are hoping these changes will improve the look of our entry, as well as improve traffic flow both entering and exiting the facility.
Daily Parking Rates
We are also adjusting the parking rate structure to better align with neighboring on- and off-street parking rates. These rates are detailed below. The overall structure has been simplified, and the new rates are designed to be similar to on-street parking meters in the neighborhood. New parking rates will also take effect on March 1.
The meters will automatically display the appropriate rate structure, depending on the day of the week.
The monthly parking rate will also be adjusted to $60.00 per month due on the first of each month.
A separate letter will be sent to all current monthly parkers describing the sign-up and payment process (which can now be self-managed online). Monthly parking will be available to anyone by visiting Impark’s website at www.impark.com or by calling Dora Lacayo in Impark’s local office at (415) 227-0114 x21. Monthly parkers will need to display the bar-coded hangtag they are issued at all times when parking in the lot.
Free Parking for Loading/Unloading
There will be designated spaces near the entrances to Buildings A, B & C which allow convenient parking for loading and unloading without charge for up to 20 minutes. Because of the way the new system works, there will no longer be free parking for the first 30 minutes throughout the site, but to address the needs of those making quick pickups and drop offs, Impark will not issue violation notices to any patrons involved in active loading or unloading of passengers or goods from their vehicles.
