Until further notice all HPNC events will take place online via Zoom. Invitations to the Zoom meetings will be sent to members by email. Please visit the "Recordings" page for recordings of past readings and events. Unless otherwise noted, all of our meetings begin at 1 p.m. Pacific Time.
December 6, 2020: Scott Mason will join us to describe and discuss the haiku gratitude project that he initiated in the spring of this year and the widely-praised book that resulted from it – The Haiku Hecameron: Gratitude in the Time of COVID-19 – featuring the work in haiku and related forms by one hundred poets from thirty-plus nations on six continents.
January 24, 2021: Winter quarterly meeting. Carolyn Hall and paul m. (Paul Miller) will be our featured readers. Learn more about Carolyn's recent collection Cricket Dusk here. Paul's new collection Witness Tree is available from Snapshot Press.
February 21, 2021: Michael Sheffield will give a presentation on Shinto Influence on Haiku from Ancient Times to the Present.
April 18, 2021: Spring quarterly meeting. Ron C. Moss, a visual artist and poet from Tasmania, Australia, will give a reading and presentation on haiga.
May 23, 2021: Brad Bennett will take a close look at word choice in his talk Euphony in Haiku.
June 20, 2021: Slide show and haiku reading by the Broadmoor Haiku Collective.
July 18, 2021: Summer quarterly meeting. Chad Lee Robinson and Robin Anna Smith (aka GRIX) will be our featured readers.
August 29, 2021: Two Autumns Reading (originally scheduled for summer 2020). The featured readers at this, our 31st annual Two Autumns reading will be David LeCount, Patricia J. Machmiller, Crystal Simone Smith, and John Stevenson. Sharon Pretti will edit the commemorative chapbook and will also serve as the emcee for the event. Mark your calendars for this, our biggest event of the year!
October 3, 2021: Fall quarterly meeting. Sarah Paris and Gideon Young will be our featured readers.
January 23, 2022: Winter quarterly meeting.
